Inequalities in health among ethnic groups have been extensively documented.  The needs of different ethnic groups need to be considered when delivering health care and identifying need.  Understanding these differences enables healthcare and health promotion messages to be targeted in appropriate ways.

Data and reports

We have produced a detailed local analysis of 2011 Census data (PDF, 3.8 MB) on ethnicity.  Our analysis of the drivers of excess weight in childhood, including indicators of the living environment features the impact of ethnicity on childhood weight.


Library services

The Public Health and Social Care Library can provide access to library and knowledge services, including books and journal articles relating to ethnicity and health. We can also produce bespoke literature searches.
