Literature searches

We offer a bespoke literature search service focusing on the best evidence on your topic in the current literature. Completion time may vary according to workload, scope, and purpose of the search. Currently this service is limited to requests from public health consultants and specialists but we aim to resume a wider service at a later date.

Standard searches

  1. References and abstracts (up to 2 weeks' notice).
  2. A one page analytical summary, references and abstracts (up to 2 weeks' notice).

Extended searches

  1. Comprehensive literature search of guidelines, policy, trials, case studies and benchmark practice (we hope to resume this service at a later date).
  2. Literature review (we hope to resume this service at a later date).

If you would like us to undertake a search, please fill in our literature search request form. Give as much information as possible on what you need. Alternatively, if you would like analysis from the Kent Public Health Observatory, click here. If you work for Kent County Council, but not in public health, please check back on this web page or keep an eye out for email updates, as we may resume offering a wider service at a later date.

We offer free training courses in how to find the best evidence.  Alternatively click here for online training introducing you to literature searching, and click here for more advanced training.  This training is provided by Health Education England.

Public Health England (PHE) have made available a number of their Evidence Briefings and Practice Examples. Evidence Briefings are a summary of the best available evidence that has been identified and selected from research using systematic and transparent search methods. However, the findings are not quality assessed or critically appraised.

The available evidence briefings can be found on this link.

Practice Examples are available on this link.
