The library can help you in a number of ways to keep up to date with what's new in your areas of interest.

- You can register yourself to receive e-contents pages of your favourite professional journals direct to your email account. See 'How to register for journal alerts' (PDF, 1.5 MB). If you need further help please contact the library.
- In addition to using Athens to access journals, Public Health members can also request copies of journal articles by emailing us.
Search and current awareness updates
Public Health England Current Awareness Updates (CAU) for local authorities
Together with relevant PHE teams, PHE Knowledge and Library Services produce a series of Current Awareness Updates, which are available on request from firstname.lastname@example.org or via this link to the Public Health England CAU page.
There are currently four being produced:
- Child and Maternal Health
- Healthy People, Healthy Places
- Mental Health
Emerald Insight search updates
By registering with Emerald Insight you can request regular updates of results from your saved searches at daily, weekly or monthly intervals. See our bite sized guide to using Emerald Insight (PDF, 483.3 KB). To access a range of Emerald journals in full text, you will need an OpenAthens login which you can apply for with Public Health and Social Care Library membership.
EBSCO Discovery Service search updates
Public Health England currently provides access to the EBSCO Discovery Service. You will need an OpenAthens login which you can apply for with Public Health and Social Care Library membership and you will need to register with Discovery Service. Then follow the "create alert" button on the EBSCO Discovery Service search page. You can request daily, bi-weekly, weekly or monthly updates to your search results.
