Unpaid carers experience various health inequalities compared with the general population, particularly emotional and mental health problems. Most of us will become a carer at some point in our lives. In 2021, 135,893 people in Kent were providing unpaid care (9.1%).

A number of organisations produce statistics relating to carers, both at national and local levels.

Carers UK have published a digest and analysis of all the major research and statistics about carers in the UK.
NHS Digital publishes findings from the Survey of Adult Carers in England (SACE), as well as local outcome measures for carers within the Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework (ASCOF).
