Diabetes is a major public health challenge. Diabetes reduces the life expectancy of people with type 1 by up to 20 years and type 2 by about 10 years (diabetes.co.uk). In 2023/34 there were 105,000 people aged 17 years and over who had been diagnosed with diabetes in Kent. This represents 7.7% of the population in this age group, and has increased by 1.5% in the last 10 years (Fingertips).
