COVID-19 is a contagious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the coronavirus family, which are a group of viruses that vary in severity from the common cold to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). We continue to monitor coronavirus cases and deaths that occur in Kent.

The latest statistics for Kent relating to the COVID-19 pandemic can be found here relating to positive COVID-19 tests from hospital (pillar 1) and third party (pillar 2) testing sites for Kent and Medway residents, and regional ONS infection survey prevalence. Both datasets are updated weekly.

COVID-19 Literature Reviews

Literature review on the effect of the pandemic on the voluntary sector – This review outlines the impact and demand on the voluntary sector as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The reduction in charity sector provision increases the pressure on primary care and the acute sector. The review outlines the response to these pressures including the use of new models of integrated working within healthcare. The evidence of the effect of the pandemic on the charity sector in Kent and Medway is also reviewed.
