Long term conditions
About 15 million people in England have a long term condition such diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, arthritis or hypertension. Treatment and care for people with long term conditions is estimated to take up around £7 in every £10 of total health and social care expenditure.

A number of organisations produce statistics on long term conditions both at national and local level.
- NHS Digital provide recorded prevalence statistics on the range of individual long term conditions included within the Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF).
- Office for National Statistics (ONS) provide mortality statistics, which include mortality from long term conditions.
- The OHID Data and Analysis Tools include disease profiles and prevalence models.
- The National General Practice Profiles present a range of data, including prevalence.
